Barbara Joan Bailey, known to us as Barbara, was born on a warm summer day, August 17, 1957, in Kingston, Jamaica. Her life was a testament to her supportive and thoughtful nature, always willing to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Barbara's creative talents shone brightly in every aspect of her life. As a beautician for JCPenney, she used her skills not just to style hair, but to uplift spirits, making every client feel special and beautiful. She retired in 2021, leaving behind a legacy of talent and creativity that touched the lives of many in her community.
In the words of Maya Angelou, "You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have." This quote encapsulated the essence of Barbara's life. Her talent was not only confined to her profession; she was a beacon of love and support for her family. She was a loving mother to Rachel, Latashia, and Preston, and a doting grandmother to Jasmine. Her siblings, Dorthy, Rudolph, Albert, Edward, and Jean, fondly remember her as the thoughtful sister who always had a warm smile and a comforting word. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Barbara and Edward Bailey.
Barbara's life will be celebrated, and her memory cherished at a visitation to be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 12:00pm at the Abundant Life Church in Matthews, North Carolina. This will be followed by a Homegoing Celebration at 1:00pm at the same venue. Barbara will be laid to rest at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, North Carolina, at 2:00pm.
In the spirit of celebrating Barbara's life, we encourage everyone who knew her to share memories, stories, or photos on her memorial page. Your contributions will help keep Barbara's memory alive and remind us of the joy and beauty she brought into our lives. Every thought, every picture, every story is a testament to her life and the love she shared with us all.
